Cap & Invest: a priority in Olympia
The state Legislature is considering Cap and Invest legislation to start tackling climate change pollution in Washington. House and Senate bills have been introduced and are supported by the Governor. We urge the passage of this Cap and Invest measure, one of the four Environmental Priorities for 2009.
Click here for 3 ways you can speak up for a cleaner climate, from making a quick phone call to attending a Feb. 3rd hearing.
Federal Stimulus & Conservation
The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed a huge economic stimulus package. The Nature Conservancy is urging Congress and the new Administration to ensure that such efforts benefit our environment while they support communities.
One element in the package passed by the House is significant funding for coastal restoration, which will provide jobs while improving habitat in Washington and beyond.
The Senate will begin considering this measure this weekend. Now is the time to ask your Senators to support restoration and conservation as part of the stimulus package.
There's no time like the present to act for a better future!
